"How Good And Pleasant It Is"

I'm just finishing up a Music Appreciation class at Fresno Pacific and have been up to my ears in all sorts of music. I was hiding out at Starbucks today while finishing up a test and term paper when I ran accross this video. Beethoven's Ode To Joy has always been one of my favorites from the Classical Period but it was especially touching in this video and had me holding back tears. I kept thinking of Psalm 133:1 while watching...and thinking how truly beautiful it must be to The Lord when he sees us dwelling together in unity.

β€œBehold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!” (Psalm 133:1, ESV)

"He Delights In Every Detail"

β€œThe LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.” (Psalm 37:23, NLT)

This afternoon Kathy and I made a quick trip to Bakersfield to pray with JL McAlister and visit with his family for a little while. On the way home we stopped in the middle of nowhere for a Coke, there's a lot of nowhere around here and I like it that way. Tonight, as I'm sipping a great cup of coffee and finishing up a few things before Sunday morning, I keep thinking of Psalm 37:23 and how "He delights in every detail of (our) lives".

Isn't that an amazing thought? The creator of the universe directs our paths and takes delight in every detail of our lives. Not just the big things...the details! Details might be small but they can be very important. Details like blood sugar levels, heart rates, blood pressure, and body chemestry are very important and rest assured our God delights in these important details our lives. I believe He also delights in little details like a flower placed in our path, a colorful sunset, the sweet song of a bird in the morning, or any number of other little details that may not be as serious as others, but these small details bring us great joy, and I believe that God delights in filling our lives with joy.

Some of us are more detail oriented that others. It might be good for all of us to occasionaly take the time to count our blessings, not just the great big obvious ones, but the small, sometimes overlooked details.

A Few New-To-Me Things

I am experimenting with some new things lately. Well, at least new-to-me. Things that are hopefully beneficial in ministry and getting the Word out to aa many people as possible.

  • Youversion - About a month ago I started using Youversion's Live Event feature for our Sunday morning worship services. It has been a pretty simple to learn and doesn't take that much time to work with and I have seen immediate benefits.
  • Garageband - It's been on my Mac all along but I've never done anything with it. I'm now experimenting with editing recorded sermons so that they can be uploaded to this blog or to iTunes.
  • iTunes - I have set up a podcast in iTunes and have uploaded two weeks worth of messages. This was not as difficult as I imagened it would be. Again, I see this as an opportunity to share God's Word with a few more people.

That's it for new-to-me technology at the moment. Here's a link to the podcast.
