Then the angel showed me a river with the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb. It flowed down the center of the main street. On each side of the river grew a tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, with a fresh crop each month. The leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations. ~ Revelation 22:1–2 (NLT)
The beauty around us at times is breathtaking. Spring in the rolling hills of Napa and Solano County is a sight to behold. Lush green fields, explosions of wild flowers, well manicured vineyards, and amazing trees making their comeback after winter all work together to impress. How sad it is that our lifestyles are so fast paced at times that we pass all of these things almost daily and rarely take the time to appreciate the beauty of God's creation.
"But as it is written, "What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those that love Him". ~ 1 Corinthians 2:9
The Apostle Paul tells us that there are things that God has for those that love Him that are beautiful beyond our earthly senses. Things so beautiful they cannot be seen with the human eye, so wondrous they cannot be detected by human ears, and so amazing that the mind of man cannot even imagine them. There are things that can only be revealed to us through the Spirit of God.
It would be a tragedy if we allowed our fast paced lifestyles to prevent us from appreciating "what God has prepared for those that love Him". We must be sure to slow our lives down enough to "stand still" and see the beauty God desires to reveal to us. We need to spend time in His Word. We need to dwell in His presence and listen for His "still small voice" speak to our hearts. We need to be sensitive to His wonderful Holy Spirit when He calls out to us.
