Stuff

Logo_2Our ladies are meeting at the new Ono Hawaiian BBQ in American Canyon this Monday night at 6:30 p.m. for a time of fellowship and prayer. If you have not tried Ono yet you are in for a real treat! X20farmed20rainbow20trout_jpgEverything on the menu is awesome!

This Saturday we are meeting at the church at 8:30 a.m. and will travel to the Merced River for a fishing trip. The goal of this trip is to show some young people a really good time. If you would like to invest some time in a child's life this would be a great opportunity.

I've been down with a nasty virus but wanted to remind you of these cool events at Harvest. Thanks for your calls, cards, cookies, and Bb01_2prayers. I have to give some props! We have some awesome pinch hitters here at Harvest! Last week, Bob Harmon taught my Thursday night C.L.E.A.R. Bible Study. Josh Duenas spoke at our Young Adults Fellowship. I've heard from several people that Mike Smith did a great job speaking this past Sunday morning! Bob Bradley is leading our Young Adults Fellowship tonight for me. He's a great teacher too! It's so good to have guys like this to call on!

Peace Out!

Full Moon at Van Damme

Full Moon at Van Damme, originally uploaded by CalPastor.

We caught the sunset Friday night at Van Damme State Park just three miles south of Mendocino. The sun dissapeared and the moon appeared in full glory. What a tremendous show God put on! We just had to celenbrate so it was S'mores on the beach!

Noyo Harbor at Sunset

I can't wait to continue our Summer Road Trip series this Sunday. I'll be speaking on marriage and family.

Sunday night is our Couple's Fellowship at 4:30 p.m. We're meeting at the church, then traveling to The Red Hen in Napa for dinner.

See you soon!

Life On The Edge

Life On The Edge, originally uploaded by CalPastor.

I started my mornning by attending a Men's Bible Study with the men from the historical Presbyterian Church in Mendocino, California. What a great group of men!

I stopped at sunset this evening to take a few pictures at the Noyo Harbor in Fort Bragg and was able to give a few Pocket Testaments and witness to one gentleman. He was so taken by my simple little gift that he followed me to my truck and gave me three beautiful pieces of driftwood he uses to do carvings with.

Listening to music at the Headlands Coffee House at the moment. Free Wi-Fi and great coffee!

The Turkey In The Mirror

TurkeyinthemirrorI went out on the front porch this morning to read my Bible and write in my journal and saw the funniest thing. A huge turkey was looking at his reflection in the bumper of my truck. He would gobble a little, peck at his reflection, and then fluff his feathers up apparently to impress the turkey in the bumper.

I wonder how many of us do the same thing. Do we try to impress the turkey in the mirror?

Wash Me...

Wash Me, originally uploaded by CalPastor.

Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin. (Psalms 51:2 NLT)

I'm really looking forward to speaking at a Men's Prayer Breakfast in Fort Bragg on Saturday. One of the things I want to talk about is the need for us to connect with nature. There is something about the Mendocino Coast that just refreshes my soul.

"Does not nature itself teach you..." (1 Corinthians 11:14 ESV)

"The heavens declare his righteousness, for God himself is judge! Selah" (Psalms 50:6 ESV)

"The heavens declare the glory of God,and the sky above proclaims his handiwork." (Psalms 19:1 ESV)

I wonder how many lessons we might be missing out on by allowing ourselves to become isolated from nature.

30 Miles...95 Degrees...How Sweet It Is!

Cimg0537_2_2This is not another confession post. No guilt here. I went to Sacramento to pick up my middle daughter, Alyssa, who spent the weekend with her cousin and I did a couple handyman things for the mom-in-law. While I was there I did a 30 mile loop from Citrus Heights to Roseville and back. It was 95 degrees in Sacramento but it felt good to work up a sweat. I Burned over 1,900 calories on this ride which made this Bayside Cafe smoothie extremely guilt free.

I'm off this week. A little family time at Antioch Ranch in Mendocino where I will be speaking at a Pastor's Breakfast. God is good and His timing is awesome! Kathy has been suffering a major flare-up with her Rheumatoid Arthritis and will really benefit from a week of rest. Please keep her in your prayers.

It is very frustrating to watch someone you love suffering and be powerless to help them. I do believe that God is in control and He is teaching us things through this illness. I'll share some of this with you later this week.

Until Then...God Bless!

Confession Time!

Ok! I have to confess something. I'm very bad. I'm a criminal in fact. An outlaw. I'm very bad. I was stopped by the CHP for going 70 in a 55 zone this past week. To make things worse, I had two members of my church with me when this took place. To make things even worse, one of them was an impressionable young teenager.

I'm sorry. I really am. It feels much better to get this off my chest. Thank you for listening.

Oh! I also laughed at this very bad video.

Be honest! Did you laugh? Did you want to? Were you at least tempted? Please say you were, don't make me feel worse.   :)
