It's A Wonderful Life
Dear Lord, Please Remind Me...

A Fresh Start

January is going to be an extremely important month for us at Harvest! I will be preaching a series of messages entitled "A Fresh Start". I want to speak to our members in January about the wonderful opportunity God has provided for us in American Canyon. The new year is the perfect time for us to start fresh, set new goals, and establish our priorities for the future.

Here are some things on my heart as we come to the close of 2006 and prepare for 2007...

Evangelism - We need to reach out more in the coming year. I am praying that by the end of 2007 we will have added 100 members to our congregation. We have added a second Sunday morning service to our schedule to make room and make our church more friendly to people's work schedules. We must be busy sharing God's wonderful love with those around us. Each of us know people that we can introduce to Jesus Christ! Start praying for these friends and neighbors immediately. Look for opportunities to invite everyone you know to one of our worship services or a small group Bible study.

Discipleship - Every member needs to be involved in a Bible study in 2007. Eventually, I would like to see small Bible studies available every night of the week at Harvest. Here's a quick list of what Bible studies at Harvest.

  • Men's Bible Study - Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m.
  • Pastor's Bible Study - Thursdays at 7:00 p.m.
  • Financial Peace University - Sundays at 5:00 p.m. (Starts in January)
  • New Beginnings Recovery - Sundays at 6:30 p.m. (Starts in January)
  • New Members Class - Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. (Starts in January)
  • Women's Bible Study - (TBA)
  • Couples Bible Study (TBA)

Equipping - One of my goals for 2007 is start providing training for those involved in or interested in getting involved in ministry. Workshops, conferences, and classes designed to equip God's people to do ministry in the local church. I am always encouraged when I go to some conference or seminar and get a little training to help me as a pastor. I want our volunteers here at Harvest to understand how important their role is in this ministry and provide equipping experiences for them.

Financial Stability - A few years ago we took a huge step of faith and purchased our current property. We have met the challenge each year but it has been a struggle. It doesn't need to be a struggle. God has a plan to finance the ministry of the local church. The plan is simply for God's people to bring their tithes and offerings to the church. God has blessed our families so much over the past several years. He has blessed them spiritually, emotionally, physically, and financially. If God's people would honor Him with the tithe, the church would not struggle to meet it's obligations. By the way, we are the church...therefore these obligations are ours! We need a fresh commitment to giving in 2007!

A Five-Star Atmosphere - We need to start focusing on improving the facilities God has provided for us. We need to clean up and dress up our property from the inside out. God's house should be the best kept house on the street. I am pretty sure that most of us take pride in our homes and living spaces. The church is a big part of our lives too! We should want to convey to the community that we take pride in what God has given to us as a church. There are many things that we can do right away that will cost us very little but have a huge impact. Let's get busy and start building some momentum!

I know that I'm rambling! Sorry! Any of this make sense?

Why are you sorry? Sounds like a great plan to me.
