2008 Feels Great

I'm very excited about the new year. Lot's of great things to look forward to. The new year is always a time of reflection as we look back at the previous year and see what we have accomplished. Sometimes we miss the goals we set but can you imagine how little we would get done if we didn't set any goals?

Today was awesome at Harvest as we combined both our morning worship services. It was nice being able to worship together and we had a few visitors on our first Sunday of the year. keep inviting your friends, family, coworkers, and anyone else you can think of. Let's commit this year to sharing the Gospel with as many people as possible.

We had a big crowd stay after services for our Healthy Harvest group in the coffee room. Liz did a great job encouraging us all to strive for a healthier 2008. We are so fortunate to have a personal trainer available to us at Harvest.

Our Financial Peace University classes have both kicked off. I believe we ended up with 14 families being represented in these classes. I've already heard sighs of relief from a few of our families as they discovered that it is very possible to have financial peace. We have a class on Friday nights at 6:30 p.m. and one on Sunday nights at 4:30 p.m. It's never too late to get signed up and start!

Tuesday night we are kicking off our Mobile Men Ministry. The men will meet at the church at 6:30 for a quick pray and then divide into teams of 2 or 3 and hit the road. This ministry will provide a weekly Bible Study guide to our men and encourage them to get involved in visitation and outreach. I'm sure that God will bless this ministry.

May the God of Peace reign supreme in your lives this year!

Things are crazy busy right now as we approach the end of the year. I'm not getting time to blog much but I do have a ton to share. I'll just have to make so time this weekend.

I've been working with our ACCA students this week doing school pictures. I enjoy doing this and it allows me to spend some time with our students. HERE'S A FEW SHOTS TO BROWSE.

I'm looking forward to our Harvest Christmas Dinner on Thursday December 13th, Teen Progressive Dinner on the 14th, Children's Ministry Christmas Party on the 16th, Christmas Caroling Hay Ride on December 20th, and our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service.

Turkey Bowl 3

Our teens were humiliated by the adults for the second straight year in Turkey Bowl 3. The final score was 22-11 which was a bit closer than the 77-7 blow out last year.

Today...The stock for Motrin climbed significantly.

Harvest Carnival Was A Blast

We had a great Harvest Carnival this year. You can check out some of the photo HERE . I'll add more photos as they are shared by all of our wonderful flickr members here at Harvest.

We started doing a carnival as a safe alternative to Halloween about 15 years ago and it has just grown like crazy. I'm really proud of our people who work very hard to do something for the community without expecting anything in return.

Harvest Tailgate Party ~ November 11th 2007

Sunday November 11th is our Big Tailgate Party at Harvest. We'll get the party rolling around 8:30 a.m. (Scott Myer will probably start earlier than that) in the parking lot.

Bring your BBQ and side dishes. Bring along your board games and stuff. We'll all be wearing our favorite team jerseys.

Bring your friends, family, and neighbors! Let's pack the parking lot out and meet some new friends. Here's the plan...

• Tailgate Party and BBQ 9:00 - 11:30 a.m.
• Special Message and Baptism 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
• Turkey Bowl III: Desperate Teens 1:00 p.m. - ???

I've passed this church a hundred times and always thought about photographing it. Tonight was the night. I'll spend some time post processing these images later but I wanted to share one tonight.

I've been speaking on 'The Cross of Christ' for the past several Sundays. It is amazing how the Holy Spirit takes the message of the cross and pierces the hearts of men.

The more you ponder the cross, as a believer, the more you love God and despise sin.

Me and Tennessee

Today, I unloaded 4,500 lbs. of tile that will be going into our fellowship hall this weekend. There are so many exciting things happening around Harvest it's hard to keep up. Tonight, I'm taking Motrin and applying  ice. :)

Actually, before I get to the Motrin we're doing an Evangelism Blitz in our neighborhood to invite folks to our Harvest Carnival on October 31st.

Young Adults Road Trip

Our young adult's are off on a road trip this Saturday at 4:00 p.m. We'll be headed to Sacramento to visit Bayside Church. We'll hit the Bayside Cafe for Starbucks, Worship with Lincoln Brewster, take in a great message, and then enjoy dinner at Sonic.

Our Young Adults Fellowship meets on Tuesday nights at 8:30 p.m. We are currently meeting at the new Round Table Pizza in American Canyon. God has blessed Harvest with some really great young people. It is exciting to watch them grow.

I'm exploring Google lately. I'm trying out the IGoogle page as my homepage. It's really cool and let's you choose the content. I'm also trying the GMail and so far I like it a lot. Finally, I added a Harvest Church calendar to this blog. Check it out! Let me know what you think. If you have Google Calendar (It's Free) you can import events right into your own calendar.
